Earthly Riches

Proverbs 23:4-5 says, “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.  Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”

Proverbs 13:11 says, “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.”

In my younger years I wanted to be rich.  Now it seems that I’m able to trust God more.  He seems to have a chart (unbeknownst to me) that shows how much wealth he wants me to have.  If I trust him during times that are more meager, He prospers me.  If I start being greedy and trying to improve upon His work, He finds a way to slow me down.  He doesn’t want me to be poor–He just wants me to be content.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 says, “To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.”
